Our Mission – Who We Are & What We Do

Bullmastiff Rescue of Canada (BROC) is an independent, volunteer rescue organization, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of abandoned, surrendered and neglected Bullmastiffs across Canada.

“Why rescue?” (Original article by: Cindi-Lee Campbell, one of the founding members of BROC)

Over the past decade, the popularity of the Bullmastiff has grown in Canada. The number of breeders has risen from coast to coast, and the number of litters born annually is on the rise. For every action there is a reaction, and as with many breeds, popularity has had its drawbacks for the Bullmastiff breed.

Recognizing the need for an organized rescue effort in Canada, several fanciers joined together to form a national rescue group, independent of any regional or national breed club, and Bullmastiff Rescue of Canada (BROC) was born. Since that time BROC has worked very hard and has made some amazing advances on the rescue front, including adopting out dozens of deserving dogs to forever-homes, supporting owners in need of guidance, and holding some great fundraisers to support our cause.

One of BROC’s core competencies has been to recognize that we are a group of people drawn together by our love and devotion to the breed, but that as individuals we vary in our lifestyles and personal commitments. BROC understands that the kind of help each person can offer will vary, but we consider all contributions equally important!

BROC prides itself on our ability to work together, as equals, sharing our ideas and efforts, while concentrating on our common goal: to help one Bullmastiff in need, at a time.

If you are interested in supporting BROC, please see “How Can I Help” and contact your provincial coordinator.

Together, we can make a difference
